Is a comprehensive war threatening the Middle East?: Iranian attack raises concerns

A significant incident strains the relations between Iran and Pakistan. According to “CNN”, Iran has carried out a missile attack on Pakistani territory. Pakistan responds with sharp criticism, labeling the attack as an “unprovoked violation” of its airspace. The Pakistani government stated that two children were killed in the attack and warned Iran of possible “serious consequences”.

Iran targets the militant group Jaish al-Adl in Pakistan

The group Jaish al-Adl, known for numerous attacks in Iran, was the target of an Iranian attack in Pakistan, as reported by state-owned Iranian media and the “Tagesanzeiger”. Rockets and drones were reportedly used, according to the Irna news agency and state television. The attack took place in the Koh-e-Sabz region in the Balochistan province of Pakistan, following Iran’s missile launches in northern Iraq and Syria. The ongoing conflict in Gaza is fueling concerns of escalation in the Middle East.

The Pakistani government reports that two children were killed in the attack. It also expresses its concern about the fact that the attack occurred despite existing communication channels between Pakistan and Iran.

Revolutionary Guards destroy residential houses

Pakistan, a nuclear power, has officially lodged a protest with the Iranian Foreign Ministry against the attack, emphasizing that “Iran will be clearly responsible for the consequences”. The militia Jaish al-Adl confirmed to “CNN” that the Iranian Revolutionary Guards used six drones and several rockets to destroy two houses where the children and women of their fighters lived.

Iran’s recent attacks could intensify concerns that the war in Gaza could escalate into a comprehensive conflict in the Middle East, with serious humanitarian, political, and economic consequences. The United States criticized the attacks in Iraq and Syria as “reckless”. The United Nations emphasized that security concerns should be resolved through dialogue, not through attacks.
