Second Increment of the Year: 50,000 EU Officials to Receive Higher Salaries

Due to the increased inflation, the EU had retroactively raised the salaries of its employees by 1.7 percent as of January 1. Now, internal calculations indicate a further increase of one percent, retroactively effective from July 1. This was reported by “Bild”.

50,000 EU Officials to Receive Increased Salaries

As a result, the highest basic salary for an EU official would rise to 23,262 Euros. This salary and pension increase for approximately 50,000 employees represents a cost of around 70 million Euros for the EU institutions.

In 2022, the staff of EU institutions received a salary and pension increase. To be able to manage the additional costs, the EU institutions must reallocate funds.
