They are carrying it in crates, with self-made cardboard signs stating: “We no longer need this. To give away for free!” This refers to the adhesive that climate activists in Berlin’s Alexanderplatz are now voluntarily giving away for free.
The reason for this is a change in strategy by the activists, as reported by “Bild”. They stated in January that they are now a force that “cannot be ignored” even without adhesive. This makes the protest actions even more environmentally friendly.
Climate protests incurring high costs
Through their glue blockades, where activists stick their hands to busy streets to disrupt traffic, the groups aim to highlight the urgency of climate protection. Despite the legitimate concern, the chosen methods of the protest groups have long been criticized. The actions incur high costs for the city and the country.
In Berlin alone, climate protests have caused approximately €86,000 in costs by November 2023, as reported by “RBB24”. Henceforth, protests will involve mass occupations and attacks on objects related to climate change.
