According to the company, the restaurant chain Hans im Glück and its co-owner Hans-Christian Limmer have parted ways with immediate effect. The reason cited was allegations that Limmer had been involved in organizing an event on the topic of remigration, as stated in a company announcement on Wednesday.
Secret Meeting with AfD Members in Potsdam
Apparently, this refers to a meeting in November in Potsdam, which was reported by the media outlet Correctiv. Alongside AfD politicians, it also involved the figurehead of the far-right Identitarian Movement, Martin Sellner, who presented his ideas on remigration. Limmer’s name was mentioned in the invitation to the meeting, which was seen by the German Press Agency. However, according to Correctiv, Limmer did not attend the meeting himself. “The management of Hans im Glück Franchise GmbH, the circle of owners, and the entire team are deeply shocked by these allegations,” the statement read. “As the company Hans im Glück Franchise GmbH, we clearly distance ourselves from extremist views as they contradict our core values.”
Prior to the media reports, Limmer had informed the company about the allegations against him. He emphasized that he had unambiguously distanced himself from the mentioned remigration demands when questioned by the media. Limmer did not personally attend the event. Limmer was “dismayed by the demands made at the event.”
In order to protect the reputation of Hans im Glück, Limmer offered to immediately resign from his position as co-owner. “This offer was accepted by the circle of owners.”
