On the orders of the domestic intelligence service, two Islamic youths have been taken into custody. Edris D. and Rasul M. are said to have plotted to carry out an attack in Cologne on December 1st.
The “Bild” newspaper reports that the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution has received indications of a planned Islamist attack on a Christmas market or a synagogue in Cologne. Telegram messages in the possession of the domestic intelligence service reportedly revealed that 15-year-old German-Afghan Edris D. and 16-year-old Russian Rasul M. intended to drive to a Christmas market or a synagogue in Cologne on December 1st with a small truck and homemade incendiary devices.
An escape route to be used after the attack had also been prepared.
Rasul M. is considered a “relevant person” and a terrorism suspect
Edris D. is reportedly not known as a terrorism suspect, according to the “Bild” newspaper. Rasul M., on the other hand, is already classified as a “relevant person” and a terrorism suspect in Brandenburg, where he resides.
