According to the RTL/ntv Trend Barometer published on Thursday, it could expect to receive 36 percent of the indicated votes in Thuringia, 34 percent in Saxony, and 32 percent in Brandenburg.
In Thuringia, the CDU can currently expect 20%, the Left Party 17%, the SPD 9%, and the Greens 5% of the votes. Accordingly, the current red-red-green coalition in Erfurt is far from achieving a majority. A coalition without the participation of the AfD is only possible if the CDU and Left Party were to participate in an alliance.
The survey results for Sahra Wagenknecht’s party, BSW (Bündnis Sahra Wagenknecht), are devastating. In Saxony, Thuringia, and Brandenburg, the BSW currently stands at four percent and would miss the entry into the state parliament in each case. What makes it especially interesting is that these are the first state elections in which the BSW aims to participate.
State elections on September 1 and 22
In Saxony and Brandenburg, the current three-party coalitions could be continued. In Saxony, the CDU would receive 30%, the SPD 7%, and the Greens 8%. In Brandenburg, the SPD could count on 22%, the CDU 16%, and the Greens 7%. A new state parliament will be elected in Saxony and Thuringia on September 1, and in Brandenburg on September 22.
At the beginning of January, according to a survey by the opinion research institute Civey and the “Sächsische Zeitung,” the AfD reached 37% in Saxony, the CDU 33%. The SPD, on the other hand, was only at three percent and its entry into the state parliament is in doubt, the FDP is at one percent. The Greens with seven percent and the Left with eight percent are far behind the AfD and the CDU.
All data was collected by the market and opinion research institute Forsa on behalf of RTL Germany.
