On Friday in Cologne: Planned terrorist attack on Christmas market? Police apprehends two suspects (15, 16)

As the WDR“ reports, a video surfaced in a Telegram group of young Islamists, which alarmed the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution. A youth is said to have called for a “Holy War” against the West and also announced a terrorist attack in Germany for December 1.

The author is said to be a 15-year-old Deutsch-Afghan from Burscheid near Leverkusen in North Rhine-Westphalia.

He is alleged to have arranged to meet with a 16-year-old Russian from Wittstock in Brandenburg and discussed an Islamist terrorist attack with incendiary devices or a small truck on a Christmas market or synagogue in Cologne.

No weapons or explosives found on the youths

According to FOCUS information, no weapons or explosives were found on the youths. There have also been no written plans discovered for the commission of an attack.

The Federal Prosecutor’s Office in Karlsruhe, responsible for terrorist offenses, has not initiated any investigations and is being kept informed by the regional state prosecutors in North Rhine-Westphalia and Brandenburg.

According to “Bild” information, the 16-year-old Russian is said to have been known to the police, unlike his 15-year-old partner. The Russian is considered a sympathizer of the terrorist organization “Islamic State”.

The two youths are also said to have exchanged information about a specific period of time. The possibility of leaving the country was also considered.
